The first thing to know is What is Hypnosis? as there is a lot of misconception about hypnotherapy due to old horror movies and even modern-day stage hypnosis. The hypnotic state is a natural state of being that we all experience on a daily basis. Ever left home in the morning only to arrive at work with no recollection of how you got there? This is when the conscious part of our brain switches off and the subconscious takes over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Dragonfly?

Dragonflies are born and live their early life in Water, they feed on creatures living in the mud (Earth), their adult stage is lived flying through the Air and their beautiful colours are a result of reflected sunlight (Fire) and therefore are of 4 of the basic 5 elements.  Also as with butterflies they metamorphose from the early larva stage into the stunning adults that are such a wonderful sight over many ponds and waterways, so representing how we can also change and develop into our full potential.

Will I have to get undressed?

This will depend on what therapy you have chosen.  For example with reflexology you will need to remove your shoes and socks. For Thai Foot massage I will need to be able to work on your lower legs so tight trousers may also need to be removed - you will have a blanket covering the upper part of your legs.  With a full body massage you will need to undress down to your underwear although you will be covered by towels with only the area being work on uncovered at any given time. If you have any concerns then please be sure to mention this before the session starts so we can find the most acceptable way forward for you.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary depending on the treatments, but I have listed prices on the treatment pages. If in doubt please ask.

Do I need a consultation?

When visiting for the first time a full consultation will be carried out, looking at medical history, lifestyle and what you want to achieve from your treatment.

This is a vital and totally confidential process to ensure that you receive the most from your visit and that there are no medical reasons to prevent the session from going ahead. 

For most people, a 10-15 minute period at the beginning of their first session is long enough for this process to happen. However for a significant few more time is needed to discuss more complex medical/mental health issues, or to simply spend more time finding out about the different therapies on offer. There is an option to book a 30-minute consultation should you feel this is required.  If in any doubt then please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your requirements.

What happens during a session?

We start with assessing how you are doing so far and when ready you will be invited to make yourself comfortable.

You will then be talked down into the hypnotic state and the main focus of the session will be carried out. You are then brought back to being fully conscious and the session will be reviewed and where appropriate the next session will be discussed.

What is the best therapy for …………..?

All holistic therapies are about the right approach for each individual so it is not so much what is best for a particular condition, rather what is best for you.  This will vary from individual to individual and often a good starting point is what do YOU feel drawn to most. It is also very important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and again this can vary, just as we find it easy to work or be with some people and not others.  I am always happy to discuss this with anyone considering coming to see me and I also offer the opportunity to book a 30 minute consultation session so that we can explore the various options and put together an appropriate plan that is specific to you. It also gives you a chance to see how you feel about me as your therapist.

How many sessions will I need and how often should I attend?

This will depend on the reason for your visit and how much work is needed to be done.  For example if you have back issues due to pour posture which has developed over many years then several sessions may be needed.  In such cases a weekly attendance at first is advisable dropping to every other week after the first month and then monthly for maintenance thereafter. Needless to say that if you continue with the bad posture habits then more frequent visits may be needed over a longer period of time.

How long does a session take?

This varies from therapy and can also involve personal choice, for example Reiki can be booked as a 30 minute or 60 minute appointment.  Times given for each treatment are there as a guide line and include time for undressing, choosing essential oils, etc, where appropriate.  If you need to be by a certain time please let me know on arrival and I will ensure we finish in good time.

This is an important part of any therapy programme, allowing time to really look at what it is you are looking for and how best to achieve this. By taking time to look in details of what your requirements are then each session can be tailored to suit you individual needs.
